Truth of God's Word Leads to Eternal Life

A person's worldview is their perception of reality. A worldview consists of the sum total of one's knowledge about the world, together with political, philosophical, religious, and other sensibilities that shape the decision making process. We all interpret our experiences through the filter of our worldview. There are many different worldviews, but they can be reduced to exactly two categories: those that conform to the truth of God's Word, and those which do not.

The Barna Group defines a Biblical worldview as including at least seven things. The first is the understanding that absolute truth does exist, and that all truth conforms to the Bible. There are six criteria taken from the Bible: the literal existence of Satan, the accuracy of the Bible, salvation by grace alone, the sinless nature of Jesus Christ, the omnipotence and omniscience of God, and the personal duty to evangelize.

Using these criteria, the Barna Group surveys indicate that fewer than one in ten adult Americans hold a biblical worldview. Among those who profess to be born-again Christians, the number is still no more than one in five. In some Christian denominations, even a majority of pastors do not have a biblical worldview.

If your perception of reality is not based on truth, then your ability to make good decisions is profoundly impaired. In Proverbs 14:12 the Bible says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." Those who abandon the Bible as the foundation of truth are left with only what "seems right". A view of the world not based on truth leaves us vulnerable to the deceptions of Satan. In fact, the more a person's worldview diverges from truth, the farther they are from reality. The only sure way of detecting deception is to compare it to truth, and the source of all truth is God.

The Bible describes God as our Savior, who wants all people to be saved, and come to a knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:4) Jesus Christ said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". (John 14:6)  The way of truth leads to Christ, and eternal life in Heaven. All other ways lead to Hell. Believe the truth, because the destination of your soul depends on it.          Pastor Daniel Rhodes
